Your Social Media Overwhelm Antidote
I have found that there is a recurring drowning feeling which crops up again and again as the biggest problem for Beauty and Holistic Business Owners when talking to me about their Social Media. Everyone talks with passion and energy about their business but when it comes to their Social Media, there is often a degree of overwhelm making it seem much more complicated and mystifying than it needs to be.
It reminds me of when I was when running my own Small Business (a Beauty Salon), it always seemed to take so much time to think about what to write, which platforms to use and what to do, in what order and when. So, I really do know how it feels to be in this ‘overwhelm’ situation with Social Media and I really get the dilemmas, confusion and frustration that can happen to all Small Business Owners.
I hear the same thing said in different ways from Clients and these words really do resonate with me because I’ve been there myself.
This tends to be what I hear:
“Help, I don’t really know what I am doing”
‘Help, I’m doing some stuff but it’s taking a lot of my time and I’m not sure if it’s working”
“Help, I’m not sure how to choose between Facebook, Twitter and the others, so I’m just doing a bit here and there on all of them”
I call this state Social Media ‘overwhelm’ and I have found that the best antidote to it is not rocket science but putting into action some thought, strategy and planning.
‘Sounds simple’ I hear you say but it can be hard to know where to start a plan or what to put in it.
This is where I can help, I can give you strategy and structure for a Social Media plan and guide you through putting it together, setting it out and’ owning’ it, although you will choose the content. The plan we create will include all your passion and your ideas entirely relevant to your own business and it will make you feel so much clearer about Social Media and will ultimately put you back in control.
I use a very straightforward template and will work with you to make it work for your year ahead.
The key thing to remember is that it is a very flexible and constantly moving plan and one that can adapt to your business as it changes over the year. I promise you though, that by actually putting down on paper your Social Media plan for a year ahead you will start to feel more in control. You will begin to see where it fits in with everything else you are doing and the way to use it purposefully for your business will start to become clear.
It all starts with your Blog and the content you want to share with your existing Clients and potential new ones. By planning your Blogs you can take back control of your messages and use the content from your blogs to lead your Social Media. I have some excellent ways of using linkshares in your Social posts to encourage your followers to click on thorough to your blogs and then they will be spending time on your website, which is where you want them to be.
I have developed a very simple blog template which will help you plan your year ahead. We will brainstorm all ideas for blogs and from that create inspirational Blog content for you. It is best to start with questions such as …
‘Is your business seasonal? ’
‘Do you offer special offers for Mothers’ Day, Easter, Father’s Day, Valentines etc?’
‘What else is happening’
‘What areas show your expertise?’
‘How can we fit this in with your Marketing?’
‘Who are your key people’
‘Can we include some case studies ?’
‘Do you have newsletters, events, open days or regular communication with your Clients?’
and many more…
So, if you find yourself drowning in Social Media ‘overwhelm’ then get in touch and I will be delighted to chat to you to see if I can help. If managing it yourself is a step to far then we can discuss outsourcing your Social Media Management and I would be delighted to talk to you about ways in which we could work together.
Do share this with anyone who you think might benefit too..
