Hello, my name is Louise and I’m a Social Media Coach and Manager
My mission is to help Small Business Owners fall in LOVE with their Social Media. My why is for my own Independence and to create something worthwhile for other business owners. My own experience took me from feeling absolutely terrified about posting anything on Social Media when I ran my own Small Business, a Beauty Salon, to actually falling in love with it and enjoying it and I am now absolutely loving sharing that journey with other Business Owners. My coaching is designed to help you run all your social media efficiently, effectively, with confidence, with a plan, like a pro and most importantly, without it feeling like a full-time job. My greatest wish is that by the end you will love it too.
I have a professional background in Marketing and Event Management and when I had a family my career went through various metamorphosis and re-inventions, as lots of us know it can, when you are juggling the school run, running a home, cooking dinner, organizing playdates, parties and god knows what else we do for our children these days.
When my first son started nursery school I trained as a reflexologist which I absolutely loved doing but I couldn’t make it work with the hours people wanted treatments and the demands of a small child. I still treated friends and family but my attention turned to Property development as these were the days when it was relatively easy to borrow money. When I got to the point where I couldn’t borrow any more money for another property project, I invested in my own Salon so that I could practice my reflexology and attempt to run my own business. Talk about a steep learning curve. After taking on the headache of staff, an archaic paper and pencil booking system, laborious product ordering and stock taking, cash flow spreadsheets, HMRC demands and all that goes with it I decided to blast that business into the future. I took a leap of faith that I probably couldn’t afford and I introduced a computerized booking system, complete with online booking, loyalty scheme, email marketing and lots and lots of Social Media training!
At first my staff resented the time required for the IT training but little by little we took it on and in no time it was up and running and working brilliantly. The younger girls were awesome with some of the technology and it took me much longer to get to grips with it. Not wanting to be seen as a complete fossilized dinosaur I decided to go for all the Social Media training I could get my hands on and to my compete shock and awe I absolutely loved it!
I learnt quickly that running a Small Business successfully needed a focus on Social Media. I was lucky enough to be given some amazing help from my IT provider, hundreds of phone calls, questions and frustrated rantings later it started to become clear that the customers were loving the FB updates and were posting fantastic reviews on our FB page and liking and sharing our stuff with friends and family.
Boosted by this somewhat intensive learning and seeing some great feedback and results pretty quickly, I invested in several training courses, workshops, webinars and researched some brilliant online training and put in a lot of hard graft. I found I absolutely loved this aspect of marketing my business and especially using my creative skills from my previous professional life. I particularly loved the creativity of the email marketing, dove-tailing it with the Social activity and it all became such fun! Yes, I said fun!!
When I realized that I actually preferred running my Social Media than doing my reflexology (and I’d also had one Groupon offer too many to fulfil which overworked my hands) I decided it was time to move on.
Once that business was sold I started to help some friends with their businesses (for free) and used my knowledge to set up and max out their FB, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest, learning all the while. I took another leap of faith, this one didn’t cost quite so much and Platform Social emerged from the ashes like the proverbial Phoenix. I wanted to do more of what I loved and I wanted to use all my training and experience to offer Smart Social Media coaching in bite-size pieces to other Salons and most importantly, I wanted to share the love I have for Social Media.
I can take you from the fear and overwhelm some of you feel for your Social Media to a place of calm, comfort and control, I can save you time and stress and leave you free to run the Salon business that you love. It’s not rocket science but a little bit of strategy, planning and know how will transform how you view your Social Media and this is what make me do a ‘happy dance’ when I see it put into action.
