Does your Social Media feel like a full-time job?
Well, it need not!
I’ve noticed that most of the Small Businesses that are my clients come to me, sometimes screaming with frustration over a variety of different things. Whether their problem stems from time frustrations, clarity of message difficulties, planning, responding, scheduling or blogging they all seem to have similar underlying difficulties with their Social Media.
I know it’s not a quick fix and Social Media done well is a long term marathon rather than a short sprint to victory but it’s a journey worth investing in. It it can bring you the gift of time to focus on your business and to do what you do well, clarity to send out relevant and appropriate messages and the added bonus of feeling in control of the Social Media Platforms that you are on.
Here are some of the things I have heard from owners of businesses before they became my clients.
Take a look down the list and see if any of these resonate with you…
- It feels like a full-time job
This is probably the most common complaint, the one where business owners feel like they are spending more time on their Social Media than on their own businesses which is a major problem.
Does your Social Media feel like a full time job to you?
- All I’m doing is responding
Again, if all you feel you are doing is responding to others on your social media then clearly it’s not working as it should for you.
Is this perhaps you?
- It has all mushroomed out of control
Sometimes the speed of social media can make it seem like it has mushroomed out of your control. I think this is the one where it all becomes overwhelming and it just seems a step too far to get it back under control. It might be that the speed of Twitter is just too fast, or you get distracted by what others are saying, or it could be that you are not scheduling your posts so you don’t feel in control of what you are doing.
Is this ringing any bells with you?
- I need to be clearer about what I’m doing
Are you clear about what you are doing? You know you need to blog but you aren’t sure what to blog about or where and when to blog. Or perhaps you are sending messages out there that just aren’t clear … if this is the case then you can be pretty sure that your Social Media messages won’t be clear either.
Is this the one that applies to you?
- I’m wasting time on it
Time is the crunch! When you are not planning your content, not scheduling your posts and spending ages creating blog content that you haven’t thought about then it can feel like you are spending way too much time. Social Media run like this will take more time than it actually needs to. Your time can be managed so much more effectively and efficiently if you plan what you do and are smart about how you do it.
How do you feel about the time you spend on your Social Media?
Is it something like this?
